Lamplighters

Who are they?

Lamplighters is an auxiliary group that started in 1963.

It is comprised of wonderful men and women who are passionate about serving the homeless, and they have continued to assist Union Gospel Mission in meeting the needs of our community and telling the story of our ministry for over six decades!

Every third Friday of the month, delegates meet for fellowship at various church locations in Sioux Falls and the surrounding area, then return to their own churches to advocate for UGM and the people we serve.

What do they do?

These servant leaders help meet the needs of our community through their support of UGM. At each meeting, they pray over needs, plan projects, and bring special “love gifts” to contribute – canned foods, hygiene items, diapers, socks, dish soap, and more.

Over the years, Lamplighters has raised money for kitchen supplies, equipment, repairs, and renovations. Projects they’ve funded include a new piano for our chapel, a dishwasher for the kitchen, LED lighting throughout the Mission to help reduce electrical costs, and more!
