Lamplighters

History & Vision

Since 1963, UGM’s Lamplighters—men and women passionate about serving the homeless—have assisted Union Gospel Mission to meet the needs of the homeless and tell the story of our ministry! Every third Friday of the month, church delegates meet for fellowship at various church locations throughout the city and surrounding area, then return to their own churches to advocate for Union Gospel Mission and the people we serve. They also bring a special “love gift” when they come—canned foods, personal care items and more. The love gift changes monthly.

For six decades, the Lamplighters auxiliary has raised money for kitchen supplies, equipment, repairs, and renovations … even a new piano for our chapel! Recently, the group raised funds to purchase a dishwasher for the kitchen! Currently, the Lamplighters are raising money to provide LED lighting throughout the Mission—an improvement that will reduce our electrical costs for years to come!
