Volunteer

The life that gets changed might be yours…

In a world where the internet allows us to connect with people from all over at lightning speed, it can be easy to get caught up in all the suffering of the world and want to do something about it.

While global missions are beautiful opportunities and we fully support it, we also encourage you to keep your eyes open for the people God has placed right in front of you where you are.

You don’t have to leave the country to go on a mission trip – host a Backyard Mission group and serve the needs of your local community!

Thank you for considering donating your time and talents at Union Gospel Mission Sioux Falls! We deeply value your heart to serve the community with compassion and share the hope of Jesus Christ.

Ann is our Community Care Coordinator, and part of her job is to organize and plan your volunteer experience from start to finish. Whether you are an enthusiastic individual or want to bring a group, contact her to get started! She will help with planning activities, connecting you with the right departments, and more. Tours are also available upon request and are a great way to learn more about the needs of the community.

Mentor

Do you have a heart for helping people one-on-one who could use your support and guidance to get back on their feet? We have a perfect opportunity for an individual like you!

As a volunteer mentor, you would be paired with a current guest of the Mission interested in mentorship who is preparing to be housed. While they are with us, you would have the opportunity to get to know each other. After move out, you would continue to connect periodically to encourage them, connect them to resources, and more. We will offer you the tools needed to be successful if you bring the fire in your belly!

If you’re interested to apply as a volunteer mentor, please print, complete, and submit the following application and waiver:

Hygiene Kits

This is a great group project that can be done in many ways! Groups have collected the items and assembled kits at their location to bring and drop off as a donation. We’ve also had groups come assemble kits with the items we’ve received. Even more fun than that is going out our door to distribute the completed kits to community members and pray with them. If this sounds up your alley, contact Ann to make a plan:
