Mission & Faith
Who We Are
Union Gospel Mission is a nonprofit emergency shelter dedicated to providing essential services to the homeless, needy, and marginalized people of the Sioux Falls community.
UGM is a beacon of light for those lost in the dark – offering food, shelter, clothing, resources, and spiritual guidance to help people find health, healing, and hope as they work to reclaim their independence. The Mission’s work is holistic and rooted in Christian values. We seek to demonstrate God’s love as we help people claim the promise of John 10:10…
“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” – Jesus
Our Mission
Statement of Faith
WE BELIEVE
….the Bible is the inspired and only infallible Word of God.
…there is one God, eternally existent in three persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
…in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.
…that for the salvation of lost and sinful man, regeneration by the Word of God and by the Holy Spirit is essential.
…in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit who enables the Christian to live a Godly life.
…in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost – they that are saved unto the resurrection of life, and they that are lost unto the resurrection of eternal separation from Christ.
…in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
…God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin and seek His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ.
…every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity. Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accord with scripture nor the doctrines of the Mission.
